Because of my work, I travel extensively, and as a result ate the “wrong foods” was on pills of “all sorts” for cholesterol, diabetes, blood pressure … you name it I used it. I think I would “rattle” if I was actually able to jump up and down!
… I tired just about every diet known to man, spent a fortune in the process and although I have some success initially it was only a matter of time before it all (the weight) went back on… and more in fact… After reviewing the situation with my GP, and we did work on this for months. he suggested the “Lap-band” and being just about ready to try anything said let’s give it a go… Dr Ian Baxter and his team could not have been more helpful, the process was straightforward, the surgery was not (in my opinion) what I would call invasive and the recovery period short… Now here’s the thing, you have to follow the rules! Because if after the band is in, and you don’t, it really let’s you know about it… to be honest I have on more than one occasion“dropped the ball” and as a result thought I was going to die from the pain. If I hadn’t known what it was I would have thought I was having a heart attack!.... (it’s okay it does go away very quickly). By following the “rules” and they are simple to follow… and not that restrictive.. I can now eat and drink pretty much anything I want but of course in much smaller volumes. The band is a constant reminder like a little guy inside saying “are you sure about this?” and after the couple of reminders , yes I am sure that I’m not going to do it again! So what are the results? On the 12th September 2007, I weighed in at 138Kgs … I just weighed myself 26th January 2008 and hey presto 106.5Kgs! I still have a bit to go but in addition to the weight loss I’m off the “pills”, blood pressure is great, cholesterol good, diabetes cured! So you tell me was it worth it? You betcha! I would recommend Ian Baxter and his team to anyone in the same predicament as me to go for it … the nice thing is if it doesn’t work (and believe me it WILL) it can be taken out… so what have you got to lose? Only your life if you don’t do something!” Ian Andrew |
